The Northbrook Counseling Center (NCC) is a satellite
center of the Care
and Counseling Center of Georgia (CCCG) and is sponsored
by the Northbrook United Methodist Church (UMC). CCCG
was formed in the merger of the Verdery Counseling Center
of the former Georgia Baptist Hospital and the Georgia
Association for Pastoral Care Inc. CCCG is a nonprofit,
interdenominational organization that provides pastoral
counseling through its central office and satellite
centers in metropolitan Atlanta. Counseling is available
for individuals, couples and in groups. |
What is Pastoral Counseling?
Pastoral counselors are ministers who are first trained
in theology and then extensively trained in psychotherapy.
This discipline, practiced for over 50 years, is based
on the belief that God's presence in our world is reflected
in our ability to relate to one another and to ourselves.
Growth occurs in an atmosphere of acceptance, understanding,
and compassion. This is Grace as humans can express
it. |
When Can Counseling Help?
Pastoral counseling can provide therapy for a wide variety
of life's concerns, including:
Marital & family conflict
Anxiety or depression
Trauma & abuse
Job loss or dissatisfaction
Divorce and recovery
Loss or grief
Women's and Men's issues |
Are my visits private?
We respect the integrity and protect the welfare of
all people with whom we work. cccg and NCC honor their
obligation to protect information gained in the counseling
process. |
What does it cost?
We charge a standard fee for counseling services. The
fee is discussed and agreed upon in the first session.
Insurance may be available depending on personal coverage.
Most insurance policies cover services provided by Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapists. |
How do I make an appointment?
Each counselor maintains his or her own calendar. At

NCC is located on the campus of the Northbrook United
Methodist Church at 50 Houze Way, Roswell, Georgia 30076.
Houze Way is about one halt mile north of the intersection
of Crossville Road (St. Rd. 92) and Crabapple Road.

Professional Qualifications
Pastoral counselors at NCC and CCCG are certified by
the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. All
staff members of CCCG are licensed by the state of Georgia
or are pursuing licensing. Reverend Graves is a Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Georgia.
In addition to pastoral counselors, the CCCG staff includes
a consulting psychiatrist and a consulting psychologist.
A licensed clinical social worker and a licensed professional
counselor are also on the staff. |

faiths as well as those who profess no religious belief.
We understand that effective pastoral counseling respects
the unique beliefs of each person. We will serve those
