A LOVE FEAST for ALL on FEBRUARY 12 It’s February and the talk turns to love. Even at Northbrook, we’ll talk about love on Sunday, February 12. Kirk will share his insights on all types of Christian Love. The Sanctuary will be available for Renewal of Wedding Vows after worship. Couples can come to the altar in small groups to renew their vows with one of our pastors. What a wonderful gift for your spouse to repeat those vows again and say “I love you more today than yesterday…” This will be a welcoming day for our entire congregation. We’ll celebrate the love of families with a barbeque lunch at noon. Invite someone to join us on this special day and on any worship or fellowship occasion. For reservations, email DHightower@NorthbrookUMC.com with your name and the number of people who will attend. We will accept donations to cover the expenses of the meal. |

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE -- SUNDAY, MARCH 4, 2012 In the U.S., about 4 million people need blood each year. That’s one person every two seconds, and the overwhelming majority of people who need it would die without it. Healthy, generous donors are the only source of blood. There is no substitute for blood. Blood is needed for emergencies, for surgeries, and for people who have cancers, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia, and other illnesses. Every donation makes a difference in someone’s life! Our goal for March is 70 donors. Our church family’s response in October was tremendous with 71 donors participating. Watch for sign-up information in the church bulletin in February. Call Lynn Clements @ 678-491-0080 if you have questions. |

ESL PROGRAM We are planning to start our SPRING SEMESTER on January 24th all the way through early May. If you shared with us
this past semester and you would like to keep doing so, let me know if you want to keep doing what you are doing, or if you want to do something else. If you weren’t part of this first semester, I invite you to join the team and get involved. We
want to keep growing, so we need more TEACHERS, TUTORS, CHILDCARE, SNACKS and DRIVERS. There are still some areas in which you can help! This is our fall schedule and our needs:
Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 (teachers, tutors, childcare, snacks and drivers)
Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 (teachers and drivers)
Friday from 10:00 to 12:00 (teachers and drivers)
You don’t have to commit to every single day of the week; you can ONLY pick one day per week and that would be amazing! |

The Music Ministry has several opportunities in all our groups from children’s choirs to the Chancel Choir, Hand Bell Choir and Youth Choir. If you enjoy singing, we have a place for you and your children in our choirs. Ever thought about playing hand bells? Experience is not necessary. We learn while we play and it’s easy to get started.
Music is an important part of our lives and instilling a love of music in our children is a precious gift that we can give to them. We need a few people to help with our children’s choirs this year. You do not have to be a trained musician or have experience teaching music. We will work together to share music with the children. Please prayerfully consider joining in with us. If you have interest in these ministries, please call Brian McLeod at ext. 224. |

RAINBOWS is a peer support group program that provides a bridge to emotional healing for children, adolescents confronting death, divorce or other painful family transition – “because it doesn’t need to hurt forever.”
Change is a part of life, but it can also be frightening – particularly for children who don’t understand what is happening. Grieving children need caring, trustworthy and knowledgeable adults to help them through the pain. And in cases of family transition, many times parents are trying to cope with the loss themselves. |

IT'S OKAY TO BE HUMAN: We're brought up to be strong, self-sufficient, independent people. We tend to think that if we ask for help, it is a sign of weakness. So we try to keep our struggles hidden, stuffed deep inside. God wants us to care for others - and allow others to care for us in our time of need. To find out more about Stephen Ministry for yourself or someone you know, talk with Stephen Leader Debora Daniel at 770-891-2002. |
