Great Day of Service 2008 - FAQ

What happens after I register?

Once all the congregation has been registered (after March 16th), you will receive a volunteer letter in the mail letting you know what project you are assigned to, who your project captain is, and what items you may need to bring with you.

What is the schedule on the Great Day of Service?

8:00 a.m.

Continental Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall

8:30 a.m.

Holy Communion in the Sanctuary

9:30 a.m.

Meet your group on the patio by your project # and prepare to leave for your project

Is childcare available?

Childcare, birth through 8 years will be available on the GDS from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. by reservation. You can indicate your need on your registration from. Parents should pick up their children at the time their project ends. Childcare workers will be needed for the GDS as well – you can volunteer to be a childcare worker on your registration from. Please note that there are many projects where children can participate both at the church and away from the church.

Can my Sunday School class sign up together?

We cannot reserve specific projects for Sunday School Classes. The purpose of Great Day of Service is to be able to meet people and for individuals and families to serve in a ministry area they feel personally called to.

Can children/youth participate?

Yes! Children should participate with their family or another family. Youth can participate separately or with their family. Please note age restrictions for each project on the registration from.

Why must I list my first, second and third choice on the sign up card?

We will do our best to assign everyone to their first choice, but as needs are met and project teams fill, we may need to assign you to a second or third choice. The best way to serve in your first choice is to sign up early!
