Let every instrument be tuned
for praise! Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise.
And may God give us faith to sing always. |
From the earliest days, music has been a vital element
of worship. The Book of Psalms is a songbook expressing
praise, awe, joy, sorrow, and penitence before God.
The New Testament contains hymns and canticles sung
by the earliest church. The gift of song is an important
expression of our humanity before God as we gather for
worship.
Our music ministry at Northbrook is designed to train
musicians for worship leadership, and also for personal,
spiritual, and musical growth. Voices joined in song
are a powerful testimony of the cooperative Body of
Christ strengthening and uplifting one another.
Music for the church services is chosen based on the
theme of the service and the scriptures, as well as
special times and holidays. We try to reflect the diverse
worship needs of our congregation, including old favorites
and newer hymns. The beautiful and touching music of
voice and instrument is made possible only by the time
and talent of the congregation.
It’s not too late to become part of one of our
music ensembles! There is always a need for anyone who
would like to share the gift of music that God has given
them. Church musicians have found both inspiration and
a supporting fellowship in working together with others
to worship God through music. We invite you and your
family to be a part of our ministry of music. |
