At Northbrook Preschool our purpose is to provide a loving and nurturing Christian atmosphere where children can develop socially, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. We recognize and acknowledge the very special uniqueness which God created in each child enrolled in our program.

Our hours are 9:15 - 12:15 on Monday, Thursday and Friday and 9:15 - 1:15 on Tuesday and Wednesday during October through May for those families who participate in Stay and Play. Three classes (M-Th 3s, M-F 4s, and kindergarten) meet daily from 9:15 - 1:15 throughout the entire school year.

In an atmosphere of Christian nurturing, Northbrook UMC Preschool embraces the opportunity to share the joy of learning and discovery with the children and families of the congregation and surrounding community. The program works in partnership with parents (a) to encourage the unique development of each child, (b) to provide an experience where children come to believe in themselves, their worth, and their ability to have an impact on the world around them, and (c) to enable children to see themselves as creative, capable, critical thinkers. Northbrook Preschool commits itself to an inclusive ministry, serving children without regard to their race, language, ethnicity, gender, social, economic, or religious background. At Northbrook Preschool, our goals are to help children develop in their own way in order to see themselves are unique and special creations of God, and to help families to feel supported and nurtured in their child rearing efforts.


Our preschool is here to help you guide your child toward a learning experience that will enhance his life now and later. This will help him feel like a special part of the family and the community and in time this will benefit his world.

We provide an environment that focuses on cognitive skills, language development, fine and gross motor skills, social interactions and emotional and spiritual growth. Developmentally appropriate activities are structured throughout the day that help each child grow in areas of self-discipline and self-esteem. Our classes play and experience during the day through a variety of learning centers: discovery, science and nature, manipulatives, sensory, dramatic play, building, books, creative art, and directed art. Our three-five year old classes have listening and computer centers.

Art, drama, movement and music are integral parts of our daily activities. We offer weekly music classes for all of our children and Spanish classes once a week for five day four and five year olds.

Children two years and above attend chapel twice a month. This special time includes stories and songs about God and His presence in our lives.
