Women's Ministry at Northbrook UMC is the perfect place for all women to serve others, meet like-minded friends, and become a part of the Northbrook family! All of our women's ministries are open to newcomers, and there is a group to match the interests of every woman. Women are invited to visit any group, and all will recieve a warm welcome from leaders and members alike. BETH MOORE SIMULCAST! We will be broadcasting Beth Moore’s Living Proof Ministries sermon on September 18 in our sanctuary via simulcast!. Praise singer and Dove Award winner Travis Cottrell will lead the simulcast participants in praise and worship music prior to the sermon. This is going to be a fantastic day! Buy you tickets now. Tickets purchased on September 1 or later will be $35. Northbrook UMC will be selling a boxed lunch online as well, for participants not wanting to leave the church campus during the lunch break. Current Women's Ministries at Northbrook UMC

CONNECT meets at the church, twice monthly on a weekday morning (1st and 3rd Wed. for Fall 2011), from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Sept. through May. CONNECT is about being bold, getting real, and talking with other Christian women about what really matters to you.  It’s about dynamic speakers, inspiring conversations, exploring God's word, and connecting with God, other women, and yourself. CONNECT is for women at all stages of life, with or without children.  Newcomers welcome at every meeting.  Childcare available by reservation. Fitness and Faith will meet Monday mornings at 8:30am beginning September 20th. Jenny Rindt and Kristi Gilliam will be co-leading this new and exciting ministry that will meet at the church for devotion and prayer followed by a run or walk depending on your preference. Both Jenny and Kristi are marathon runners and have years of experience in physical fitness. If you are a beginner they will be able to help you develop a fitness plan that is right for you and offer encouragement along the way, if you are already a consistent runner or walker this will be a wonderful opportunity for Christian fellowship during your training. Here and Now...There and Then - A Beth Moore lecture series on the book of Revelation meets at the church Sunday evenings, August 22 – Novermber 7, 2010. In this series, Beth presents many points of view, allowing women to decide for themselves when the interpretation varies among scholars. Lydia Links meets the 3rd Fri. of each month at 10 a.m. We want to engage our church community in Northbrook mission projects, local mission projects, and national mission projects in compassionate response, in the name of Jesus Christ.  Presently we are a group of 17 women dedicating our time and resources to our church improvement and church mission projects. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets the 2nd and 4th Tues. of each month from 9:45 to 11:45, Sept. through May.  If you are the mother of a child ages birth to 6 years, then Northbrook’s MOPS ministry is for you! Join us for interesting guest speakers and insightful discussions, with topics geared to your specific needs as a mother of young children. Naomi Link meets on the third Tuesday every other month for breakfast or lunch. Sometimes at a restaurant, other times at a member’s home. Without formal programs our Link is designed to help to help us develop as whole persons through Christ, to strengthen our love and support for each other and for our community. Our mission outreach includes projects that give caring support and fellowship within our group and community, At this time all of our members are over sixty, but we welcome any age. Northbrook Crafters meets the fourth Monday of each month at 10:00 am at the Northbrook House. We also schedule work days as needed.  We work on many projects for our own Church such as prayer shawls, baby blankets, baptism cloths and many others. Special requests from any church group are welcome. We also make crafts for our annual craft sale in November. Proceeds go to our mission projects. New members are welcome to join this active group. Northbrook Book Club meets every 1st Tues., Sept. through May, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the library. Some book selections are from Christian authors or have a Christian theme, but the Christian aspect of the group is mainly the discussion revolving around the characters and story line. We encourage newcomers to join us, even if they haven't had a chance to read the book. Susanna Wesley Group meets from 7:30-9:00 p.m. the 3rd Mon. of each month at the church, with off site meetings in June and Dec., and at a Mexican restaurant in July. Women’s Evening Bible Study meets Thurs. nights from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. from August until May. We are mostly a group of empty nesters who enjoy a snack and fellowship and then spend an hour studying a book. We would love to have anyone who is interested visit with us any Thurs. evening. Women’s Wesley Groups are small groups that meet weekly for fellowship, spiritual growth and prayer. We are always ready to start a new group or add to current groups. Yoga meets at 10 a.m. on Thurs. mornings in the Music Suite. Classes begin August 12, 2010. Yoga classes focus on stretching and strengthening body, mind and spirit with exercises in being present, mindfulness and gratitude. Postural alignment, breathing and intention are some of the ways these things will be accomplished. A Women’s Council comprised of representatives of each group meets regularly to pray, seek God’s will, and plan for the women of the church and the community. It is the hope of the council that each woman find a unique fit in ministry to and with other women of Northbrook and the community.
