We have a tutoring program for Mimosa Elementary students at the church on Thursdays from 5-7.  We need tutors, supervisors, and drivers to help out.  Let Alex know if you feel called to serve in this ministry asmith@northbrookumc.com.

Red Cross Blood Drives (NEXT DRIVE – March 19th)

The Mission Committee at Northbrook sponsors three Red Cross Blood Drives each year. Our regularly scheduled Blood Drives are held in March and in September. However, for the past two years we have been asked to host a third Blood Drive in June due to low blood supplies in our area. Donations are given on designated Sundays at the church from 8:00 – 1:00 on Red Cross buses.

Members of the congregation generously support the Blood Drives by signing up to donate blood, helping with registration of donors, and providing baked goodies for those who donate blood. Information on the Blood Drives can be found in the church bulletin and in the church newsletter in the scheduled months. For more information, please contact Elizabeth Hubby at 678-919-1310 or thubby@comcast.net.

Making the Most of Your Donations
The missions committee would like to help you make the most of your donations to the church and our community. Please follow these guidelines:

  • Handprint Bins on the patio are reserved for specific monthly donations drives publicized through the church newsletter and bulletin.
  • Food should be taken directly to North Fulton Community Charities on Elkins Rd. except during the months of January and July when Northbrook fills the pantry of NFCC and utilizes the handprint bins on the church patio. During other months, please take your food donations to NFCC where they have a drive-thru donation lane.
  • Clothing (gently used) should also be taken directly to NFCC. These donations will be given to clients in need of clothing or sold through their thrift store. For your convenience, there is a drive-thru donation lane with volunteers who will assist you.

Please, please do not leave donations that would be more appropriate for Goodwill or North Fulton Community Charities in the “handprint” bins at church as this creates more work for the members of the missions committee and may delay the receipt of your donations to our local agencies.
