We believe that worship is an indispensable element to our faith journey. When we gather on Sunday, we learn and are reminded of the stories and character of God, especially the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Then the Spirit leads us to respond to God through our song, prayer, testimony, giving, and sacrament. We worship as a community in order to share our experience of God with others and be encouraged by their faith.
11:00 am Sundays
This service is a traditional worship service, incorporating liturgy, hymns, prayer, scripture, and sermon as well as a children’s sermon. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month, and the sacrament of Christian Baptism is frequently observed. Stirring music by the Chancel choir, special music provided by our youth and children’s choirs, and frequent special instrumental music make this service a vital part of our worship as a congregation.
Children in Worship
We love having children in worship at Northbrook! Children kindergarten – 5th grades are encouraged to participate in the children’s sermon. Following the Children’s Moments in the 11 am Worship Service, children kindergarten- 5th grades are invited to participate in a wonder-full SLAM Worship. It’s a time to experience an interactive, hands on journey with Jesus, using the Kidmo Curriculum, a multi media driven worship. Every five weeks there’s a new theme and challenge.
A loving nursery is available for infants through two years of age during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services. A greeter or usher will be happy to escort you to the nursery rooms located on the upper level of Building C. Pagers are available for parents who request them. We also welcome children in the worship service if you prefer.
