A Northbrook Night of Worship

This Saturday (tomorrow) at 6:30 PM, our church family has the opportunity to gather for A Northbrook Night of Worship in Simmons Hall. I want to emphasize this from the very beginning. This night is for everyone. Whether you worship each week in The Brook, attend our traditional service, or have never stepped into a modern worship service before, you are invited.

Our worship team has spent countless hours preparing for this evening. Every song has been prayed over. Every arrangement has been crafted with purpose. Every rehearsal has been more than simply learning notes and chords. It has been an act of seeking the Lord and asking Him to move in our church family. We are especially excited to welcome Auriyan Tillman as our featured vocalist, and we know her heart for worship will be a tremendous blessing.

One of the things I love most about Scripture is that it reminds us there isn’t one “correct” posture for worship. Some worship quietly. Some raise their hands. Some kneel. Some sing with every ounce of strength they have.

​What matters is that our hearts are turned toward Jesus.
King David certainly didn’t hold back.
“David danced before the Lord with all his might.” 2 Samuel 6:14
When others criticized him, David replied,
“I will celebrate before the Lord… I will become even more undignified than this.” 2 Samuel 6:21–22
David understood something we can easily forget. When we truly recognize who God is, our response changes.
Can I ask you a question?
How would you respond if Jesus walked into the room?
The amazing truth is this. He already has.
Jesus promised,
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20

Sometimes we unintentionally treat God’s presence like a distant idea instead of a present reality. But He is near. The Lord of Heaven and Earth. The King of kings. The Almighty God. If I truly grasped that reality every moment, I think my natural response would be to fall on my face in worship and awe.

This Saturday isn’t about putting on a concert. It’s not about a style of music. It’s not about performance. It’s about meeting with Jesus together. Come ready to sing. Come ready to pray. Come ready to be still if that’s what the Lord leads you to do. Come ready to lift your hands, kneel, rejoice, or simply sit quietly in His presence. There isn’t one right outward expression of worship, but there is something beautiful about offering God our whole hearts.

We’ll also be receiving a love offering during the evening. Every gift will help support our Music Ministry’s upcoming choir tour to Europe. It will directly bless not only my own family, but every member of the team who will represent Northbrook as we share the Gospel through music. Your generosity helps make ministry like this possible, and we are deeply grateful.

And don’t forget to come hungry. Andrea Youngstrom will be preparing a delicious Brook breakfast featuring our famous, award-winning sausage balls. Come a little early for breakfast, and feel free to enjoy it before and during worship as we gather together. It is one more wonderful opportunity for fellowship as we spend time together as one church family.

Northbrook, I genuinely believe God has something special in store for this evening. My prayer is that we would come with expectant hearts, not worried about who is watching us, but completely captivated by the One we are worshiping.
